Affettuoso (20:00 Southwell, this evening: bettingsites.co.uk Your Betting Guide Handicap, Class 4, 1m4f)
Roger Varian’s gelding for Cheveley Park Stud, in fine form at 18% over the last fortnight, ridden again by Ray Dawson who’s a perfect 1 from 1 on him. Bolted up by 7½ lengths over this exact 12f trip at Lingfield last time, a clear step forward for the move up in distance, and he’s unbeaten at the trip so far. Carries a revised mark now, but there’s more progress in him for top connections.
Verdict: Back Affettuoso to win. He’s only just discovered his best trip and looks capable of following up despite the rise. 🏇
