Talk Of New York (15:00 Newmarket — Betway Joel Stakes, Group 2, 1m)
Charlie Appleby’s colt, flying at 59% over the last fortnight, ridden by William Buick who’s 3 from 6 on him. Runner-up in the Group 3 Thoroughbred Stakes at Goodwood last time, beaten just half a length when caught too far off the pace, and that form reads well given he’d earlier run a big race in the Group 1 St James’s Palace at Ascot. Perfect course record and half his starts have come in the hood, with a 50% strike rate in it.
Verdict: Back to win — sets the standard on form, top yard and jockey combo, and the Goodwood defeat looks unlucky rather than a true form line. 🏇
