Crafty Gael (16:00 Southwell, this afternoon: ‘Smooth Radio – Always The Best Music’ Novices’ Handicap Hurdle, Class 5, 3m)
Olly Murphy’s gelding, in excellent form at 25% over the last fortnight, ridden again by S Bowen who’s a perfect 1 from 1 on him. Won by a head at Worcester last time, stepping up to 2m7f for the first time and clearly relishing it, and now steps up again to 3m carrying a 6lb rise for that win. The step up has brought improvement each time so far, and there’s nothing to suggest this trip will be any different.
Verdict: Back Crafty Gael to win. He’s only just getting going now he’s had his head in front, and the step up in trip keeps playing to his strengths. 🏇
