Silesia (14:30 Carlisle — EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes, 6f)
A two-year-old chestnut filly by Zoustar, trained by Kevin Ryan and partnered by Kevin Stott, Silesia has shown progressive form across her three outings this season. She ran third at Thirsk on debut over 5f in April, then improved to finish second at Beverley in a novice on good to soft in May, beaten just a length. Most recently she stepped up in class significantly, running in a £25k fillies’ conditions event at Beverley on 30 May, finishing third of eight behind Crystal Queen, beaten 2 lengths at 6/1 — a solid effort at a much higher level.
Today she drops back to a Class 4 novice with far more winnable rivals, and the step up to 6f on good to firm ground looks the key to unlocking her. By a sire known for speed with a touch of class, she’s a filly on the upgrade and this race looks made for her.
