Silver Lake (15:35 Doncaster — British Stallion Studs EBF Premier Fillies’ Handicap, Class 2, 1m 4f)
A three-year-old grey filly by Night Of Thunder, owned by Wathnan Racing and trained by William Haggas — in solid form at 24% over the last 14 days — and partnered today by James Doyle. Followers of this channel will know Silver Lake well — we tipped her at Goodwood on 31 July when she won at 4/5, and she’s been unstoppable since. Three handicap wins from three starts this summer, including a head victory in a valuable fillies’ handicap at York on 21 August at 11/10. She wears a tongue strap that has accompanied all three wins — a 100% record in headgear that tells its own story.
Today she steps up to 1m4f for the first time, which is the one unknown, but she travels well and connections clearly believe the extra distance will bring further improvement. Haggas has won two of the last nine runnings of this race and knows exactly what he has.
Verdict: Back to win — three wins from three handicap starts, progressive form, Haggas targeting this race, and a filly who keeps finding more. 🏇
