Bamako Beach (15:00 Cork — Glenvale Stud Race, 7f)
A three-year-old bay colt by Sands Of Mali, trained by Muireann O’Callaghan and partnered by Seamie Heffernan. Bamako Beach was given an ambitious entry in the Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh in May — not a bad benchmark to set the standard in a race like this — before connections brought him back to earth at Fairyhouse on 8 July, where he won convincingly by 1½ lengths at 4/11 over this exact trip on similar going.
He’s a horse with good ability who is now finding his level, and in a nine-runner field at Cork on good to yielding ground, that Fairyhouse win looks well within the capabilities of this field. O’Callaghan has him in good shape and Heffernan is a reliable booking.
Verdict: Back to win — comfortable recent winner over course and distance, well treated in this company, and connections know what they have. 🏇
