A two-year-old by Mehmas trained by Hugo Palmer, this colt has done nothing wrong in four starts and his latest run was nothing short of extraordinary. Sent off at 40/1 in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot last month, he finished second of 21 behind Great Barrier Reef, beaten just half a length — a performance that announced him as a serious talent. That run at 40/1 franks exceptionally well and today he drops back to a four-runner Group 2 on his favourite track.
Oisin Murphy, who won on him at Newmarket in April, takes back the ride — a significant positive. He has a 50% win rate on good to firm ground and won at Newmarket on his debut. The main threat is Godolphin’s Inner City Blues, unbeaten in one start, but experience and proven Group form gives Adaay Of Scarlett every chance.
